Learn critical care of patients.
Use the "MyPaging" app on your CCF phone to look up the cell phone numbers of attendings you need to talk to.
First attending pager is #1634, they are the attending on the primary teaching service in the MICU. They are the doctor to staff with in the afternoon.
Second attending pager is #1454, they are the attending covering the CVICU and NSICU. They are the doctor to staff with in the morning.
Use Dr. Tewari's H&P dot phrase "STIC" or "MICU H&P IP SOAP CCHS" smart text for your notes. You need 7 physical exam systems and family history needs added to the notes.
Use the "ICU Admit" order set for admission orders.
Make sure to order scheduled antibiotics, morning labs, magnesium and phosphorus on admission.
For consults for peripheral access on the floor ask why IV access is necessary (blood draws, fluids, abx, etc), who as attempted, is the patient taking PO. 2 nurses should have tried. The PICC team should be called for access first. If you think the patient needs a central line you can staff that decision with your attending. If the patient does not need central access the floor nurse needs to call the house nursing supervisor who will arrange for IV access.
